About our Camps

Spicer's Summer Music Camps are designed to provide students of various ages the rock n' roll summer of a lifetime. All levels of our Rocks Camps give students the ability to learn and test their music skills in a real band and give an exciting performance at the completion of the camp. Similar to our store slogan, these camps are "Not Your Average Music Camps."

In our Rock Camps, students will receive expert individual and group instruction on the instrument of their choice by our highly trained and experienced camp staff. They will be divided up into groups of bands where they will have the opportunity to choose their own band name, design a logo, and create their own "band merch."

During the course of each week-long session, students will learn songs of their choosing and have the chance to write their own with their respective band. To ensure each student has a genuine rock n' roll experience, each session will conclude with an on-stage performance complete with professional sound and lighting. Family and friends are highly encouraged to attend and rock out in the crowd!

These camps are not only designed to further each students' music skills, but to teach them the principles of self-discipline, communication and problem solving. We feel that encouraging our children's love of music has been instrumental in helping them develop their individuality. Most importantly, they're having fun!

Rock Camp Jr. is an exciting week-long summer music camp for kids ages 6 & 7.

About Rock Camp Jr. (Ages 6 & 7): $200

Session 1: July 6th - 10th: 10am - 12pm
Session 2: July 27th - 31st: 10am - 12pm

Rock Band Camp Jr. is an exciting, week-long summer music camp for kids ages 6 & 7 years old who want to rock out!

This fun camp was designed to be a bridge between Camp Kazoo and Rock Camp. Camp dates have been rescheduled from June to July so we can focus on public health concerns from COVID-19. We have worked hard to restructure camp to ensure social distancing during the exciting music-filled days. We have limited the amount of campers in each band and we are utilizing a larger rehearsal room to host campers. Register quickly, space is limited!

Rock Camp JR.

About Rock Camp (2020) (Ages 8-11): $350 or $325 for Returning Campers

Session 1: July 20th - 24th: 8am - 12pm
Session 2: July 20th - 24th: 1pm - 5pm

Due to COVID-19, we have rescheduled our in-person camps from June to July. Our new date for Spicer’s Rock Camp (Ages 8-11) is July 20th-July 24th. Rock Camp will take place at Spicer’s Music with adjusted measures to ensure the safety of our campers and staff. Social distancing will be a focal point for our summer camps this year as we limited the amount of students in each band, and spread our “future rock stars” out over a larger rehearsal space. Space IS limited this year, so register quickly to reserve your spot!

Spicer's Rock Camp is a family-operated summer camp designed to provide young musicians an opportunity to improve their skills while experiencing the thrill of playing music with their peers.

The idea for the camp grew out of our desire to find a family-oriented, positive, and fun summer music program for our own children. We believe that music is a powerful force in developing creativity, building self-esteem, and developing leadership. We feel that encouraging our children's love of music has been instrumental in helping them develop their individuality, cope with the stresses of life, and make positive life choices.

Campers receive individualized lessons in their instrument of choice and work with other musicians to create their own unique sound. Instruction in singing, songwriting, and performing on stage are key components of the camp. Through the competent guidance of skilled staff, lessons on self esteem, communication and problem solving skills are woven into each session.

Parents report that our camp has helped their children improve their musical skills, gain confidence, and develop skills in managing social relationships. Campers report that they love the experience of playing in a band and performing on stage.

Our staff love watching the children blossom into skilled musicians who will benefit from a positive, creative hobby that can last a lifetime.

Rock Camp 2020

About Rock Camp Pro (2020) (Ages 12-18): $375 or $350 for Returning Campers

Session 1: July 13th - 17th: 8am - 12pm
Session 2: July 13th - 17th: 1pm - 5pm

Due to COVID-19, Rock Camp Pro will take place with adjusted measures to ensure the safety of our campers and staff at the Bottling Plant Event Center in Opelika, AL. Social distancing will be a focal point for our summer camps this year. We will also be working some new technology into our camps this summer to prepare our campers for the future of music technology and performances. It's going to be a great year! Space IS limited this year, so register quickly to reserve your spot!

Spicer's Rock Camp Pro (ages 12-18) provides older campers of various ability with an opportunity to receive group and single instruction on their instrument of choice. Camper's will also be introduced to different facets of what it takes to be a gigging musician such as: songwriting and arrangement, band management, booking gigs and logo/merch design.

Campers receive individualized lessons in their instrument of choice and work with other musicians to create their own unique sound. Instruction in singing, song writing, and performing on stage are key components of the camp. Through the competent guidance of skilled staff, lessons on self esteem, communication and problem solving skills are woven into each session.

Each week long session concludes with a full-band performance on a professional stage with professional sound and lighting. Families are encouraged to attend!

Rock Camp Pro 2020

About Camp Kazoo (Ages 3-5): ~~$150~~ Now just $99!

Session 1: June 8th - 12th: 9am - 9:45am
Session 2: June 29th - July 3rd: 9am - 9:45am
Session 3: July 6th - 10th: 9am - 9:45am

Good news! Our highly regarded Camp Kazoo will continue this year as a fun and engaging virtual experience! Due to concerns for public health as a result from COVID-19, we are bringing the music to you! Each camper will receive a box of sanitized instruments, crafts, and music activities to be used collaboratively in a virtual setting. Using the Zoom Meetings app, we will have exciting group instruction each day as we work together from the safety of our own homes to learn about instruments from around the world. Each day campers will receive or build their own instrument to keep as we teach the basics of music fundamentals through movement, games, and catchy songs. These camps will fill up fast, so register today!

This fun-filled, positive camp introduces children ages 3 to 5 to the wonderful world of music. Camp Kazoo campers will beat on drums, shake tambourines, tap the keys, strum guitars, sing and of course toot KAZOOS! They will experience various musical genres (think reggae, bluegrass, rock'n roll) and learn about melody and rhythm. This hands-on camp provides a foundation for a lifelong love of music, and may lead to discovering a passion for a specific instrument (or two). Children will gain an appreciation for the many ways music enriches our lives.

Instructors will supervise day-to-day activities with the help of professional musicians who will share their instrument of expertise. Parents are welcome but not required!
